The divorced-and-remarried are not excommunicated. Yet Cardinal Wuerl denies them Communion.

But isn't it the 'cop-out' answer that says they have excommunicated themselves and shouldn't be asking for Communion??? And that takes the responsibility away from the priest???

Cardinal Wuerl has made statements that deliberately confused Canon 916 and Canon 915.

Canon 916 says that those who are conscious of grave sin must not receive Communion.

Canon 915 says that, in the case of obstinate, public sinners, Communion must not be given.

Cardinal Wuerl has tried to deceive people into thinking that there is only one canon at issue—Canon 916.

Cardinal Wuerl has tried to fool people in EVERY public statement he has made about Communion for pro-aborts.
