Some time ago, a lesbian living in Canada viewed a few of my YouTube videos on the subject of homosexuality, and a lengthy debate ensued. We went back and forth discussing all of the oft-repeated and ridiculous homosexual talking points.
Our conversations also included an examination of the New Testaments teachings about homosexuality. I shared the traditional and obvious scriptural prohibitions against all types of same-sex behavior. My lesbian debate opponent, on the other hand, provided the typical contortionist interpretations of biblical sexuality. And no matter how comprehensive or meticulous my explanations, she was completely convinced (deceived) that the New Testament actually sanctions homosexual deviancy.
The numerous Bible scholars to which I referred were each summarily dismissed. She contended that all of them were biased, homophobic, conservative scholars and therefore not to be trusted. Instead, she made the unsubstantiated claim that the vast majority of Bible scholars agreed with her interpretation. Although an anti-supernatural bias and a postmodern influence currently proliferate throughout academia, no names or statistics were ever provided to back up her general assertions. In fact, there has never been a study or survey conducted to determine the specific percentage of biblical professors on each side of the homosexual or same-sex marriage divide.
Nevertheless, she did issue me this challenge: To identify any liberal Ph.D. scholars who agreed with the traditional point of view on homosexuality in the Bible. She was convinced that no such academic individual existed I myself even wondered about that at the time. But after only a little research, I found that there are actually several scholars who agree with the historic, true understanding of Scripture. And whats more, they are all highly respected (heavily published, recipients of numerous awards, and well-known in their fields) AND either homosexual themselves or strongly pro-gay.

they can just say so what if we see the bible opposes homosexuality, they will say the bible is wrong, and is homophobic, hateful and needs to be rejected.
no big whup. they don’t live by anything in it anyway. they don’t use it for a source of their foundation of secular moral relativism.
Don’t tell that moron, JP Stevens. That ***hole will want to amend it with a 5 little liberal words about slavery.
We can respect libs who have the intellectual integrity to concede that the Bible in no way supports homosexual behavior, but most libs and pro-homos will destroy them.
“they can just say so what if we see the bible opposes homosexuality, they will say the bible is wrong, and is homophobic, hateful and needs to be rejected.”
They are free to do so and reap the eternal consequences if they don’t repent and come to saving faith in Christ. But in a way I respect them far more than “liberal Christians” who distort the Scriptures and say it approves of something no Biblical author would ever have thought of.
i don’t.both sets are kidding themselves. both are rationalizing it away, just with different false reasons. they are both the same, rebels. both sets embrace homosexuality.
The Bible also identifies Homosexuality specifically as Gods judgement for the sin of pride.
One cannot be a homosexual and be a Christian!
It boggles my mind that homosexuals are liberals. Conservatives are against their homosexuality, but stand by the Constitution that allows them to live their lives their own way, as long as they don’t hurta anyone else. That is an extraordinary act of self-disciplined humanity and spirituality on the part of millions of conservatives that has never been acknowledged by homosexuals.
Liberals, on the other hand, stand for a collectivism - both secular and religious - that has universally and historically slaughtered every homosexual it could ever get its hands on. And ALL homosexuals know that the preciousness of their homosexuality would be thrown in their faces and used to persecute them, if they ever turned against the Democrat aganda. So their own Party is something they take part in literally out of fear of tyrannical blowback from it. Yet they let themselves virulently hate conservatives - who would fight to protect their Constitutional rights from being violated.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
One cannot be a homosexual and be a Christian!
Yes, but can they be “Forgiven”?
If so, by whom and when ?
Does forgiveness from Man come with conditions ?
Is God’s grace unconditional ?

Judge me not ye saints for my history may be tainted
But I’m sober enough to know blood when I see it
I’ve borne my share of stones most of them easily thrown
But who’s to deny your water shed side leading me home?
What am I supposed to do about it now?
Past regrets and long laments, they find me somehow
O, what am I supposed to do about it now?
What have I to do but fall down?
To spy from far away may seem that I’m one to betray
But O, how I try the spirit to guide, the promise you made
What am I supposed to do about it now?
Past regrets and long laments, they find me somehow
O, what am I supposed to do about it now?
What have I to do but fall down?
Hold me up, never let me go
Love me when I am broken and speak to me
What am I supposed to do about it now?
Past regrets and long laments, they find me somehow
O, what am I supposed to do about it now?
What have I to do but fall down?
no room for homo`s here:
4. Honor your father and your mother.
6.. You shall not commit adultery.
9. You shall not covet
your neighbor’s wife.
4. 2 homo`s can`t be father & mother
6. no adultery coz same sex
9. no wife in homo`s

It's a bit more complicated than that. In my doctoral dissertation on the Bible and homosexuality from a Jesuit university, I discussed the three levels of argumentation by "revisionists" = those who wish to redefine (change) historic Christian teaching.
The first, or exegetical, level of argumentation is to claim that the Biblical texts do not, in fact, condemn homosexual behavior.
That being a difficult position to maintain, most revisionist scholars quickly move on to the second, or historical, level. I.e., they concede that the Bible does condemn homosexual behavior. However, the texts are viewed as the product of their limited historical background, and cannot be said to be binding for us in our "enlightened" modern age.
When it is becomes untenable to claim that the Biblical texts are irrelevant, the revisionists jump to the third, or theological, level. In this final attempt to evade the force of the Biblical teaching regarding homosexuality, it is maintained that such teachings are insubordinate to a "higher" teaching - that of the primacy of love. Thus, if two people "love" each other, then their behavior is justified.
So, liberal theologians who admit that the Biblical texts do, in fact, condemn homosexuality, are typically "jumping" to another level of interpretation that allows them to disregard the historic understanding of the Biblical teaching regarding sexual behavior.
In your research for your dissertation, did you ever run across someone who was a liberal scholar but later turned around and converted to the Biblically orthodox position on this issue?
My dissertation was completed in 1985, and I moved on to other endeavors, so I am not aware of any liberal scholars who may have changed their mind. In general, however, I have seldom seen a “liberal” (to use a catch-all identifier) theologian embrace orthodoxy - Thomas Oden would be a rare example. There are a host of factors that conspire to prevent theologians from straying from the “party line” and embracing historic Christian teaching, including the loss of one’s status and very possibly career. Unfortunately, to be in any way identified with conservative, fundamentalist beliefs is the kiss of death in “mainstream” scholarly circles.
The Bible not only condemns sodomite behavior in the OT and NT, it also it also states that this bevahior is worthy of capital punishment—death. (Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:32)
I’ve heard of Oden.

“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?”
For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?
Amen
