We are told to "NIV Lev 19:17 “ ‘Do not hate a fellow Israelite in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in their guilt." So clearly recognizing sin and calling sin out is not the kind of judging that we should not do.

We are also told, "KJV Eze 3:18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand."

But the New Testament tells us not to judge, lest we be judged. So what's the difference?

The kind of judging the Christian should not do is what Jonah did. God told Jonah to go preach to Ninevah. Everyone knew Ninevah was wicked. Neither God nor Johan was wrong to have judged Ninevah and called them wicked. They were.

But Jonah refused to go. Jonah didn't think Ninevah was worthy of God's grace and didn't want to tell them about it. God lets Jonah sit in a belly of a fish and think about his refusal to go to Ninevah. So Jonah goes, but when Ninevah repents, Jonah get's angry. Reach Jonah chapter 4. The whole book of Jonah is small.

That's the kind of judging we are forbidden to do. We are sinners saved not by our works but by God's grace. And so we should never look down on others and consider them unworthy of God's grace.

Jesus also said, Mat 7 to first remove the plank in your own eye so that you can see clearly to remove the speck in your neighbor's eye. Notice he doesn't say it's wrong to try to remove the speck in your neighbor, but to make sure first that you are prepared and have dealt with your own issues.
