First I’ve heard of this group but on first glance, I like what they’re doing here. Fighting back.

Thanks, ShadowAce. I am still running Firefox on Suse 13.1, but using DuckDuckGo as a search engine. Am experimenting with Opera, haven’t used it for years.

Will look into your recommendations. Any suggestions are welcome.

As a fork of Mozilla, Pale Moon identifies itself to servers as 'Mozilla'

The site below correctly identifies my installed Comodo IceDragon:

The site below thinks my IceDragon is Firefox:

http://whatbrowser.org

Unless those investigating browser popularity look for and accurately detect the various open source browser builds, their numbers can't be trusted.

“Or, use a non-mozilla browser in the first place...”

Yeah but Firefox is open source and very customizable. That’s why so many people here have it in the first place. If mozilla screws us, we just take the code. If Opera or Google screws us, we’re stuck.

Yeah, I get it - I use Mozilla myself... And I write Open Source. But if one is going to send a public statement to Mozilla, switching out of Firefox into any other Mozilla fork is not going to send the message, because the servers will still think you are running Mozilla. Zero difference on the surface of it. That's all I am saying. Over time, as Mozilla downloads decrease and their servers report fewer updating machines in the wild, the message will get to them, but that is not an immediate and attributable thing.

Switching out to Opera (as an instance) boosts Opera on the net and diminishes Moz. Right now. THAT sends the message.

Firefox is gone from mine as well. Palemoon is now the predominate browser on my computer, and I even got the 64-bit browser as well!

Firefox is going down the toilet.

I’m really digging Pale Moon. As a matter of fact, I wish I’d have found it before the debacle, as I think it’s what FF should be. Unfortunately, unless you flag certain attributes via the “about:config” showing it’s IE etc, it still shows as Mozilla to those counting browsers.

I’m really enjoying Pale Moon myself. FF is being purged from various systems in my sphere of influence.

Pale Moon states that they ARE Fire Fox under cover. Isn’t everyone aware of this?
