Jeb Bush to meet with Southern Baptist leader

Former Florida governor Jeb Bush is reaching out to evangelical leaders as he considers a 2016 presidential run, and in early May, he will meet privately with Russell Moore, one of the country’s most prominent Southern Baptists.

Moore, a frequent presence on television and at theological conferences, heads the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, the public policy arm of the Southern Baptist Convention, which has more than 16 million members.

Moore and an aide to Bush have confirmed the session, which will take place at Bush’s office in Miami. Bush, who has played down the idea that he is exploring a campaign, asked Moore to meet with him earlier this year.

“We’ll talk about the concerns of evangelicals,” Moore said in a phone interview. “He is a good man, and I am not surprised there is a lot of conversation about him.”(continued)

“Rand Paul is pretty clear as he campaigns to lead the GOP, he disagree with it’s platform on conservative issues.”

Baloney. He is just stating the obvious about how best to appeal to certain voters. Nothing in your quotes indicates wanting a platform change.

What you and Rand Paul consider “obvious about how best to appeal to certain voters”, contradicts the GOP platform.

When the man running for president is running against the party platform almost 3 years before the election, I think we can assume that he opposes the party platform.

If you are opposed to “gay marriage” and anti-God, social liberalism, why would you campaign for the man running on them?

I just checked his website to find out about these liberal issues that you speak of. His platform seems pretty conservative to me.

You can pretend to ignore his actual campaigning, but it doesn’t work.

Romney did the same thing, and his liberal, anti-God supporters would also try to use his website.
