WASHINGTON, D.C., April 3, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) Ned Flanders is considered one of the most likable characters on television. But according to a new poll, more people may have a positive view of Big Gay Al.
The public views homosexuals more favorably than evangelical Christians, according to a new survey of 1,000 likely 2016 voters.
According to the survey, 53 percent hold a favorable view of homosexuals. Only 42 percent said the same about evangelicals.
Homosexuals had fewer detractors than fundamentalists, as well. In all, 28 percent viewed evangelicals unfavorably, 10 percent more than those who held a similar view of homosexuals.
The polling firm and its funding have raised some eyebrows.
The survey was performed by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research (GQRR), which was founded by Stanley Greenberg, President Bill Clinton's pollster during the 1992 presidential election.
It was commissioned by its client, the homosexual lobbying group Human Rights Campaign.
GQRR has worked for a host of liberal-progressive, pro-abortion, or homosexual groups or individuals.
Its advocacy group clients feature such left-wing groups as Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, NARAL Pro-Choice America, EMILY'S List, Pro-Choice Voter, MoveOn.org, Center for American Progress, the Kellogg Foundation, and the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals.
Aside from Clinton, prominent political clients include Al Gore, Walter Mondale, Rahm Emanuel, Bill Richardson, former Senator John Corzine, and numerous national and state Democratic party affiliates.
The newest poll found a cavernous gap on the issue of redefining marriage between people of faith and those who never attend church. Nearly two-thirds (63 percent) of people who attend religious services weekly oppose same-sex marriage. However, even more (84 percent) of those who never attend support same-sex marriage.
GQRR did not release demographic information about whether their poll was scientifically representative of the United States as a whole. However, national media portrayals of homosexuals have been overwhelmingly positive, while its coverage of evangelicals has typically been hostile.
The Family Research Council and the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission declined to comment on this story.
Yes, it is - it is a reference to potty language.
With the exception of my self and my ole lady, I would trust my 3 kids with a Christian family before Id trust them to any homosexual.
With all due respect,
Reread what you wrote and think about it.
No God no peace. Know God know peace.
Let me throw out a different thought. As we see the end of a Christian western european civilization and the rise of the tyranny of Godless men we are also seeing the growth of Evangelical Christianity in Africa, South America, Central America and Asia.
So while we see our civilization crumbling it may not mean the Tribulation is imminent.
It's heart breaking to see this "sinking into Gomorrah" (to borrow a phrase).
I don't see this turning around. What I've noticed is the millennials are more infantile than the baby boomers. They do not embrace a rugged individualism, or sense of personal responsibility, that is critical for a free society to prosper. You can't blame them though, the baby boomers weren't much better.
So while we see our civilization crumbling it may not mean the Tribulation is imminent.
The most oppressed people seem to have the greatest faith. They have to rely completely on God. We have so much and it’s easy to take it for granted.
Okay, so the acronym referencing certain substances hitting fans was over the line. Strict but legit. Got it.
“but sometimes when I watch the Simpsons and Ned is cast, I get the feeling that the shows producers are making jokes at Neds expense.”
You get the feeling? They are making jokes at Ned’s expense!
“It is almost as they set up Ned where he and other Evangelical Christians are made fun of through satire.”
This is the “Simpsons” not “Touched by an Angel” Ned is satire.
Who would hold a favorable or unfavorable view of a group of people? Are all homosexuals exactly alike? Are all evangelicals? Stupid poll or stupid people, one of the other.
Once a person gets burned by more than one or many in a certain group I could see holding an unfavorable opinion of all of them.
I suppose the statement is misleading or at the very least vague. My spouse is very active at her Catholic church with the kids and is confirmed and receives communion. Before our vows I agreed to raise any children Catholic, all 3 have been baptized. 2 go to RE (Religious Education) once a week, the youngest is only 18 months. I am a Jew and was never really religious. I am willing to bet we have more in common than you think. Unlike a vast majority of homosexuals, I do not view the world through the prism of being a lesbian. It does not rule every aspect of my life, in fact it matters very little. My worldview extends way beyond my genitals and my bed.
I guess the point I was making is that the poll is obviously a load of crap and I challenge anyone that answered that poll in favor of homosexuals over Christians to be given the choice if there was no other option to leave their male child in the hands of homosexuals or Christians and see who they would pick. Its a poll driven at the very least by political correctness.
That’s been the propaganda goal of the Liberal elite for the past 50 years.
The homosexual war on Christianity is through the schools and the media. They will not stop until all of our freedoms are gone. SAD!
I wonder who they polled.....black lesbians in Berkeley?
The Dem party is crystal clear on those issues. And those who support it
will burn in hell for eternity.
You're right - their preaching is about other icky things.
Excellent point. The US was such an exception in so many ways for so long people got to thinking it was the norm.
