Indeed. And to be born again this man must become an atheist as i am, in the sense of believing on the Christ of Scripture to save by His sinless shed blood, as a contrite damned+destitute sinner whose living faith is counted for righteousness. And thus is baptized and follows Him, and repenting when convicted of not doing so, praying directly to the Lord in Heaven because of Christ's blood. (Heb. 10:19) .
And thus rejecting a false god who basically has Mary as a 4th person of the Godhead, and saves thru a ritual sprinkling even without moral cognizance and personal repentant faith, and is formally justified on the basis of interior goodness, and thus usually ends his salvation process by becoming good enough to enter Heaven thru torments in Rome's mythical purgatory .
Your description of Catholic beliefs is as shallow and twisted as atheists’ belief that Christians think God is an old man with a great white beard.
Some day you might learn something about Catholicism, and then you may or may not accept it—but at least you will no longer embarrass yourself.
There's a reason why Luther shortened the Bible.
Thus he made atonement for the dead that they might be freed from sin. (2 Maccabees 12:46)But he neglected to remove the following verses, which require a little bit of deduction.
"anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come." (Matt. 12:32)Jesus implies that sins can be forgiven "in the age to come."
Paul tells us that, when we are judged, each mans work will be tried. And what happens if a righteous mans work fails the test? "He will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire" (1 Cor 3:15). Now this loss, this penalty, cant refer to consignment to hell, since no one is saved there; and heaven cant be meant, since there is no suffering ("fire") there. The Catholic doctrine of purgatory alone explains this passage.
