It seems this is the most favorite parroted polemic by RCs, yet rarely do they give the answer to the question this assertion begs for, which is are you saying that being the historical instruments and stewards of Scripture means they are the infallible interpreters of it, so that dissent from them is rebellion against God?

If not, it seems this polemical assertion has little weight.

If God divinely guided the Church in compiling the scriptures and sifting out the false books, then it logically follows that the Church is also divinely guided in the interpretation of scripture. So the answer to your question would be, yes.
