The hill is not contraception. The hill is government DEMANDING contraception.

There are obviously priests who neck deep in the mire with them - aiding and abetting.

They have been replaced in a few places and died off in others. New faithful and conservative bishops have denied Eucharist to politicians but do you honestly expect the main stream to report that? Ever?

Thanks

" They just don’t accept it."

True, but making that point is a waste of time in most cases.

In an interview Pelosi said what she believes and detailed how she decides what is right and it sounds exactly like what the vast majority of anti-Catholics on FR say is the correct and true way to be Christian.

Is that anti-Catholic crowd bragging about having converted her now that she's made a very non-Catholic public profession of faith? No, because she says she's Catholic she is one in the eyes of those who recognize no authority higher than the Self.

Non-Catholics who don't even accept the idea that there's any authority other than their Self and Self Alone can't comprehend the idea of someone excommunicating their self much less accept that fact.

Why don't you ask Sodom and Gomorrah? Or Noah's buddies?

"hi MHG.. those Catholic Demorats are not catholic at all by voting for abortion on demand they have automatically ex-communicated themselves from the body of the Church, latae sententiae. They just don’t accept it."

See MHGinTN, and here you thought the Catholic vote was a problem, evidently it isn't, since it can so easily be dismissed. They are not "good" Catholics, republican Catholics, so their votes don't count, or something.

**Is Contraception the Hill We Want to Die On?**

Many are choosing that.

Some kind of childish personal attack.

I don’t think that erases the Catholic vote either.

You should read the post that you responded to, and then think about how personal and dedicated you are getting in reaction, it doesn’t make any sense.

The Catholic vote is what it is, mention of it shouldn’t create such a strange and powerful reaction in you.

She is not just a “bad Catholic” if she support contraception - she is a Catholic who definitely doesn’t get it and as such needs to be defeated so she rethinks her beliefs.

Interesting - if a Catholic has some "wayward" beliefs, crush that Catholic.

The Bible tells us to be firm but loving in the way we try to bring others around to God's will.

you said: “...if a Catholic has some “wayward” beliefs, crush that Catholic.”

interesting word you used: ‘crush’ but may be exactly what the wayward Catholic needs:

“...But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed...” Isaiah 53:5

if Christ was crushed for OUR iniquities, why shouldn’t a wayward, off-the-reservation Catholic not be crushed (metaphorically in the polls) for their iniquity?

Interesting that you use the Old Covenant for your "example". I'm thinking that the New Testament (2 Thessalonians 3 for instance) might be more apropos):

it deals with a man not willing to work not having the right to eat and they tell us to handle it "Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed. 15 Yet do not regard them as an enemy, but warn them as you would a fellow believer."

They counsel us to be firm and to let them know why their behavior is wrong, but to also be loving in the effort to get them turned around. Jesus was crushed as part of His plan for Grace/Forgiveness - let's not turn mere mortals into martyrs and try to justify our own bad conduct with some out of context phrases.

crushed was a metaphor, for loosing big in their election

in your example we should show them God’s love by electing them to a position where they can sin and facilitate others to sin.

yeah right.

Simple question. My wife and third child nearly died in childbirth. She is now 41 years old. Should she not be able to use birth control?

Conservatives push this issue at our peril. Nobody likes being told what to do. Especially American women these days.

If we stick to small government, less taxes, less regulations, point out government incompetence, etc, we have a chance. We push “family issues” we lose again. It’s really that simple.
