In death we recognize that we really are just soul as the body disappears.
The soul is only individual at the lower levels. As it increases in operation it expands to the point where one realizes that we are all one. What you do to your brother you are actually doing to yourself.
It is not the mind and body that look inward, it is consciousness. Consciousness is a function of the soul, not the body. It manifests the body at conception and departs at death. Without it there is no life energy to have cell division nor DNA transcription.
You can have consciousness without a physical body but you can’t have a body without consciousness.
But there is no consciousness without the body, not as we understand it. Human development is a kind of awakening, and as Christians we believe that we will never become fully aware until our bodies are finally transformed.
