Not really. Catholicism didnt really start until the 300s so it hasnt been 2000 years yet. Although Simon Magus was pretty influential in Rome already during apostolic times.

Oh no. Many who were referred to as Christians were faithful followers of Christ. The Roman Catholic Church tried its best to eliminate them but failed for the most part.

I dont know any Dan Brown and dont read novels. Well, other then when doing research into Catholic belief. Some of that is pure fantasy novel type stuff.
