There is a basic "apples and oranges" problem in comparing wider 10th Amendment-protect state power issues with the issues concerning the much narrower powers that the states have delegated to the feds via the Constitution. More specifically, many low-information citizens do not understand the federal government's constitutionally limited powers. Consequently, such citizens do not understand that the federal government has no constitutional authority to address state power issues like public healthcare, abortion, gay marriage, etc..
In other words, the corrupt media helped to get Obama elected and reelected on promises, particularly "free" healthcare, which the federal government actually has no constitutional authority to address.
