I have had it with advising people they are breaking a commandment and hearing that I am being legalistic.

It’s God’s commandment. That is not legalism.

I am sure glad the Vatican interpreter got this one straight.

How can anyone miss the Torah in the Pauline epistles? Did he not say in Romans that we establish the Law? Paul gives the Ephesians a crash course in Torah in chapters 4-6.

I am sure you know well this prayer made into a hymn as well:

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is error, truth;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

The Prayer of St. Francis is one of my favorite prayers.

Sorry, but those aren’t Christians you’re hanging around.

I’ve just read that Maimonides wrote that if the Torah was G-d’s revelation, then it must be perfect. To claim that there are subsequent revelations implies that the original revelation was imperfect, which implies an imperfect G-d, who felt the need to correct His prior mistake.

That’s correct, Dave. That’s why the hodgepodge that is the New Testament is not accepted by Judaism. When Jesus was executed for sedition by the Romans, he became one of many failed messiahs from the period. The New Testament was cobbled together to explain that failure, and that’s how the new and distinctly separate religion of Christianity came about.
