That’s easy for Oppenheimer to say when he never tasted the delights of a Japanese concentration camp.

The Japanese knew that they were losing the war and were planning to retreat back to the Japanese mainland where they would regroup for the defense of their country.

It was well known that they had also planned to execute every prisoner before leaving the occupied countries. The nukes thwarted their plans.

Long live Paul Tibbitts and the Enola Gay!!!!

I watched the documentary ‘World War II From Space’ a couple of days ago. There is no doubt we were right to use the nukes. The Japanese were nuts (still are?), civilians throwing themselves off cliffs, donning suicide vests and throwing themselves under tanks. The nukes saved countless lives.

Yes. I met Gen Tibbetts, and he was a wonderful man. He served his country, helped end a World war, and probably saved the lives of millions of Americans AND Japanese.
