Christian Legal Centre client, Tony Miano, was arrested this week after a woman complained that he had spoken about sexual sin.
The Christian street evangelist was remanded in custody overnight and later released on bail to appear before Dundee Sheriff's Court on 22nd April.
Tony, who is a former Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff, was arrested on 8th January on a charge of alleged breach of peace with "homophobic" aggravation.
He was part of a street preaching team holding a week-long mission in Scotland.
He was the second of the street pastors to address lunchtime shoppers in Dundee High Street. He talked about the nature of sin; about the different sins that Jesus had come to save people from when a woman began to shout at him. He was preaching about sin in general and when he mentioned sexual sin including adultery, promiscuity and homosexual practice, the woman shouted that her son was gay.
Mr. Mianos colleague, Pastor Josh Williamson of the Craigie Reformed Baptist Church in Perth, who was present at the incident explains: Tony wasnt focussing just on homosexual practice it was about all sin. A woman was yelling at him and her friend noticed we were filming the preaching, so she ran up to me and tried to smash my camera.
He says the first woman then appeared to be calling the police on her mobile just as a council warden came along and said that while we were doing nothing wrong, and had the right to free speech, we should move on.
Mr. Miano finished his preaching in a few minutes and as the street preachers packed up two police officers arrived. At this point Pastor Williamson says the women shouted that they would get the preachers arrested.
The female officer saw we had a camera......

I guess the next thing ... arrest G_d.
my thoughts precisely
Look up your salvation draweth nigh
The people there used to care about morality. Indeed maybe more so than many other places.
You can’t even mention it in a list of sins?
Insane
What would happen to an imam who preached in the streets of Scotland on the Koran’s teachings about homosexuality?
And they laugh about our silly Bill of Rights. The UK conservatives wish they had a 1st or even a 2nd Amendment.
UK is an authoritarian state.
Under the current government, you’re right. I do not view them any differently to Cuba at this point.
“...because the citizens can hear zippers.”
Europe.
If he had directed incitement and hate speech against Jews and Israel, Scotland would have built a church for him!
RE: “What would happen to an imam who preached in the streets of Scotland on the Korans teachings about homosexuality?”
The MSM wouldn’t report it, and the government would ignore him.
Perhaps the Scottish authorities should dig up the body of John Knox and throw him into the hoosegow, too.
This is actually the second time Miano has been arrested over there. The first time, the UK cops ended up letting him go without any charges, since they didn’t really have a legitimate crime to charge him with, if memory serves.
He’s not looking for trouble though. This is Tony Miano, and excellent street preacher who used to work, for many years, with Ray Comfort. He currently keeps a blog and writes for CARM, as well as preaching full time.
He’s also ex-Law enforcement. Used to preach to the criminals in the backseat, since they were a captive audience anyway.
He’s a man of great integrity and reputation.
I used to listen to street preachers when my job took me to L.A back in the sixties and really admired them even though i was not a believer at that time.
They preached the same thing, they were made fun of by a few but at least not arrested.
Hang in the Tony.
This is suspicious: the link, http://www.christianconcern.com/our-concerns/religious-freedom/street-preacher-arrested-and-held-in-custody-for-mentioning-sexual-si (adding the “n” does not help) is a 404, and both http://www.christianconcern.com/ http://www.ccfonserver.co.uk/ says “This domain has just been registered for one of our customers!”
But found some good sources for updates: http://culturecampaign.blogspot.com/2014/01/preacher-arrested-for-talking-of-sexual.html
