That's not true. To support abortion is to excommunicate yourself latae sententiae (automatically), because such support is separate from the wishes of Christ and His Church. While it's not always formally announced, it's always the case.So you have bishops and cardinals all over the world who are excommunicated from the Catholic religion, yet they still show up everyday and perform their duties...
