You two seem to believe that immersion is required for a proper baptism.

I recommend that you read the Didache.

The Didache (c. 50-120 AD) says that "pour[ing] out water three times upon the head" is perfectly fine. I'll side with history.

Matthew the Didache did say you can pour, but that was a third choice if one did not have clean running water or a body of water to baptize. Which of course baptize literally means immerse in liquid or specifically water. So if you are in the desert and there are no water sources by the Didache you could use what you have.

It's the way it was done according to Scripture. I suggest you read the letter written to the Romans, chapter 6, for openers.
