The New Testament records the temptation of Christ by the devil in the desert. That is well known.
The New Testament also records the Annunciation by Gabriel to Mary that she will bear the Savior; nowhere is there a mention of devil to counter Gabriel at the time of the Annunciation. If there was any time for Satan to tempt Mary, that was the time, right?
Finally, Genesis tells us:
“I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.”
Francis is practicing YOPIOS.
Temptation and doubts exist only if Satan personally shows up?
I'm saying she was CAPABLE of being tempted. If she wasn't tempted in this situation, she was tempted in others because all humans are weak.
We don't see any indication of Daniel being tempted either, but that doesn't mean he wasn't capable of it.
Genesis' Messianic Promise. Jesus crushed the head of the serpent not Mary.
Now that is a funny accusation. This pope is supposed to be guilty of what? Being “his own pope”? Say what?
I can say one thing, all this intrigue illustrates in spades how the Roman Catholic Church thinks Christianity is All About Them.
His comments certainly are his own personal interpretation, and not church doctrine. That said, “YOPIOS” is used to flag when someone’s own personal “interpetation” runs counter to that tradition handed down by the apostles. In fact, the very reason I accuse Pope Francis of flirting with heresy is that he appears to be citing a tradition of Catholic thought best represented by Saint Aquinas, but refuted successfully by John Duns Scotus, whose refutation gained unanimous ascent by the Catholic magisterium. (Aquinas was not a heretic because there is no reason to suppose he would not conform to Scotus.)
