Religion in the Original 13 Colonies
By the year 1702 all 13 American colonies had some form of state-supported religion. This support varied from tax benefits to religious requirements for voting or serving in the legislature. Below are excerpts from colonial era founding documents citing these religious references. Most instances of state-supported religion were removed before 1850, and the remaining requirements became null and void after the passing of the 14th Amendment on July 28, 1868. New Hampshire and North Carolina removed the nullified religious references from their state constitutions in 1875 and 1877 respectively.
The overwhelming theme regarding state religion in the United States by the Founding Fathers seems to be more the concern about an overall national religion rather than the continuation of individual state religions.
There’s no parallel in Putin’s Russia, or let’s say Putin’s Eurasian Union.

Which in itself put control on the religious laws which they made, because no state wanted to lose citizens.
And as you pointed out the 14th amendment came out after it was fairly plain that it was not even needed.
But if the united states make the laws there is
no where else to go.
