The Christian faith has not been tried and found wanting. It has rather been found difficult and left untried. Chesterton
I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending. The story of Jesus is either the greatest event in history or the cruelest hoax. If it is a hoax, then the whole of the Christian message crumbles together with the hopes of those multitudes of lives built on his name. The apostle Paul said:
And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up; if in fact the dead do not rise. For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. -1 Corinthians 15:14-19 (NKJV)
But if the story is true, then this world has been hit with extraordinary news of earth-shaking consequences. Have you taken the trouble to decide which it is?
In a matter this weighty, it is in your interest to explore the truth or falsity of Christ's claims. Amazingly however, many people who don't believe have never bothered to explore the evidence in support of Jesus,[1] but to the contrary, often run away from it. At the same time, many Christians themselves are not sure, at bottom, whether the claims of their faith are solid. Is the Christian claim a hoax? Is it just wishful thinking? Or is it actually true?

“argument with a majority
False use of that fallacy. The point is that ALL Christians, except for a few heretics that were ostracized and booted from Christianity...believed in Jesus as full man and full God.”
Thus the doctrine was established, not with an appeal to reasoning from the Scriptures but by official dictat and ability to punish anyone who dissented.
Jesus’ words stand true and applicable.
Isa.9:6 foretells the Christ. What do think it is saying about him?
That is YOUR explanation to justify your bent on the subject...There's too much scripture that that doesn't allow for your interpretation...
Jesus said, ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega’...I am not going to waste much more time in this ridiculous debate...I don’t need to re-hash out the milk of the word with someone who refuses to believe the scriptures...
but that is far from providing support for a three person God of equals. In fact it argues otherwise.
God is one. For your point to be true, it would by definition mean that you believe in more than one God.
If you deny Jesus Christs deity...by definition, you are not Christian.
You are, of course, absolutely correct.
Jesus also stated several times in Scripture, “ I am “.
This is not some cute figure of expression, the Jews knew exactly what it meant and wished to stone him for blasphemy.
Jesus was either Divine God or he was a liar.
Those who wish to believe this, may. But they have nothing in common with those who believe in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior....the one true God. They cannot deny Him and be called a Christian in any sense of the word.
Wrrong, wrong, wrong! You clearly are rejecting the SOLID EVIDENCE that Jesus is God.
“If you deny Jesus Christs deity...by definition, you are not Christian”
False...that is your apostate definition. You and others like you who have been badly brainwashed by the apostate church, in no ways define what a Christian is. How dare you.
And by the way, there are indeed souls on this earth whom have little knowledge about the bible, but still have accepted that sweet and forgiving Holy Spirit and treat others with kindness and mercy. That, is the definition of a real Christian...and Jesus said so himself.
You are not a Christian by definition.
If you don’t believe that Jesus Christ is God, you have no case to be called a Christian.
If you think he is a great prophet or merely sent by God, you merely give Jesus the same status as Muslims give Mohammad.
So your whole idea of Jesus being God is based on what Thomas said which could be interpreted another way.
Forget what Peter said (his confession), what Paul p the preached after his Conversion, and what Peter said (calling Jesus a man) at the day of Pentecost, and what God himself said as a voice from the Clouds.
You are quite selective and your evidence is thin at best.
I would also point out you didn’t realize Jesus is God, you learned it from a book. That is all intellectual.
What you need is for God to reveal to you, thru the Holy Spirit, who Jesus is as he did to Peter.
May the Creator bless you and open your eyes.
Sounds good to me.
He isn’t saying Jesus is just a Prohphet.
You are quite deceived and I am quite a Christian, thanks to God and Jesus..whom is our redeemer...the one and only sent by God. It is your false definition, not the truth. And there has been nothing at all that I have written that says he was just sent by God and not the one and only savior. So by your judgemental attitude towards me and many others like me, you have actually demonstrated your lack of Christian principles of not judging one and other.
Not really a helpful response but thanks anyway.
“So by your judgemental attitude towards me and many others like me, you have actually demonstrated your lack of Christian principles of not judging one and other.”
LOL, the same weak double standard type of arguments we get from Leftists and atheists all the time.
Do you believe that Jesus is God?
If you don’t then you believe something other than what Christians believe. Christians believe Jesus is God.
This is not some minor incongruence about a tradition or practice that denominations disagree on.
Jesus’ Divinity is a central tenet of the Christian faith.
What is your denomination?
Yes it does. Thus the reason for posting it.
>> What do think it is saying about him?<<
What do I think? I think I believe what it says.
his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
The Hebrew word used there for God is êl and that word in that form is used 163 times in the Old Testament. A few examples below.
Genesis 14:20 be the most high God, which hath delivered
Genesis 14:22 the most high God, the possessor
Genesis 17:1 "and said to him, I am God Almighty;"
Genesis 21:33 "of the LORD, the everlasting God."
Of course there are those who would deny what Isaiah said about what to call Jesus.
Nope..Jesus’ being tbd one and only savior is the main point his mission for us all. You who have bought the apostasy lie try to make it otherwise. It won’t work with md and millions of others who clearly see the simple truth. You are blocking your own salvation for some learned version that will not withstand the coming intense times.
I think you may misunderstand my post. The usual definition of the trinity doctrine is three equal persons in one God.
The comments didn’t support that teaching I said.
“If you deny Jesus Christs deity...by definition, you are not Christian.”
By whose definition? Where in the Scriptures do I find God, Christ or the apostles giving such a definition?
Jesus did define his disciples but it was not by belief that he was a person of a triune god.
You neglected to mention the necessity for a blood sacrifice.
A couple of questions then...Does this verse call Jesus God the Father? Can the term “mighty god” be applied to a number of humans without indicating that they are part of a triune God?
