I haven’t read through the thread yet. But I do know people whose Bibles consist of roughly 1½ pages of text. John 3:16, Romans 10:9-13, Ephesians 2:8-9 (always omitting verse 10), and John 5:24 is about the extent of what they believe. Faith to them is not an action, but some one-time event that guarantees them a spot in heaven when they die. Just saying . . .
I think their omission is simply due to the fact that those who have the Spirit of God already in them understand and dont have to be told that Christ WILL work through those who truly believe since true belief includes submission. They think others will understand that also if they claim they are saved.
No doubt there is such an element, but you would be hard pressed to find it here in this thread. I see no one here promoting a mental ascent type “faith” where it’s party on with Miley Cyrus. Not seeing it here. It is however a common straw man promoted often by our FRomans.
It is akin to the straw man attacks against Roman Catholics saying they worship statues. Most of us know better than to promote such a straw man.
