The gentlemen pinged along with you (GarySpFc) recommended a book to me (I have been woefully behind in reading it) called “Jesus on Every Page.” Based on your comments you may be interested in reading it.
A list? I am sure we can find a compiled list, however, reading all of the OT gives us the fullness of Messiah. From Isacc carrying the wood up the hill for his own sacrifice; the Passover in Egypt; the Psalms of David; Samson breaking down the gates of his enemies; those dry bones in Ezekiel. Exodus and Leviticus. The Suffering Servant...the list goes on.
I pinged Dr. Gary above who recommended to me a book I am woefully behind on to read. It is called "Jesus on Every Page." Since I am a bad student and have not read the book yet:) I will let GarySpFc talk a bit about it if he has the time.
A good description of why we have purgatory. Thanks for your input.
Once again, the Bible came after the Church, not before. Is there anything that a protestant will twist around to attempt to make something conform to what they think is right. I don’t think so.
“The full plan was laid out in Moses’ time, and nothing has been added since”
There was no Bible in Mose’s time and Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were unheard of. The Catholic Church compiled the 4 gospels which become the NT.
There is no logic talking to protestants on these boards. My job is to speak the truth and hopefully maybe some of it will sink it. After 600 years of being programmed that the Catholic Church is the work of the devil it’s not an easy task. The protestant rebellion against Christs Church was the greatest conquest of Satan since the fall of Adam and Eve.
CB, I THOUGHT I heard you calling me as I was going down that rabbit trail! You stopped me in the nick of time! lol!
It makes sense if baptism makes you good enough for glory, not the purifying faith that is behind it which is counted for righteousness, and thus necessarily effects holiness.
You, as another RC, are avoiding my question and the logical conclusion of your polemic, which is to be expected after 600 years of RCs being programmed by the Catholic Church. You are not to objectively examine the Scriptures in order to ascertain the veracity of the truth claims of Rome, and thus argue by asserting what Rome says. We are not impressed.
There is no purgatory because without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins. Suffering doesn’t pay for or cleanse sin because it CAN’T.
Only the shedding of blood can.
So if someone teaches that something in addition to Jesus’ shed blood is needed, then they are saying Jesus dying wasn’t enough.
That’s not a place I want to go claiming that what Jesus did isn’t enough.
Really? Source? Links? Where is that document to be found?
You don’t recall him coming down from Mt. Sinai?
>> “There was no Bible in Moses time” <<
.
Moses scribed the most important books of the Bible.
>> “The Catholic Church compiled the 4 gospels which become the NT.” <<
.
Are you trying to make us laugh?
The four gospels were spread across the inhabited world at least 200 years before the abomination known as the catholic church even existed.
No. I must have missed that somewhere along the way.

Lutheryahu Cohen?
The Catholic Church consists of men and women, and so the notion of a purely spiritual body makes no sense. Men and women consist of body and soul and either without the other is incomplete. Which is why we hold to the doctrine of the Resurrection of the body: a soul without a body is not a human being.

Only to a catholic!
The church (the real one) is a purely spiritual body, and the tares in local congregations don’t count.
Sir, my point was Jesus pointed out the entire OT was talking about Him. That was written before the church. No Jesus, no church.
>> “I think history proves it wasn’t a great idea.” <<
Understatement of the week!
