To summarize the findings on a thread last summer, Mormons are the single largest supporter of the BSA. Every LDS ward in the country sponsors an average of three and and half BSA troops each, more than triple the sponsorships of the second-largest BSA supporter.
No, they don't. With all respect, "troop" means a Boy Scout unit. Different BSA units have different names. LDS wards are required to sponsor a Cub Scout Pack, a Boy Scout Troop (it's the official Young Men's program for the CoJCoLDS), and a Venturing Crew. Some LDS wards, I believe, also sponsor a Varsity Scout team.
Also, bear in mind that there are units and there are youth. The Methodist Church has the most Cub Scouts and Venturing Scouts. LDS has more Boy Scout troops than the Methodist Church - but Methodist Boy Scout troops average 25 Boy Scouts per troop while LDS Boy Scout troops average 10 Boy Scouts per troop.
I'm moving and it's come time to disconnect my router. I may be back on FR by the weekend.
