I wonder if Jesus would say that in today’s age. Caesar takes a lot bigger portion nowadays...
I suspect He would say it today - and that He would smile knowingly. Which things are government's and which are God's? Since everything is God's, what we owe Caesar is a very short list. It includes any taxes we are required to pay and unable to avoid legally (and we should avoid taxes where legal so that we can spend our money in a more Godly and wise manner than government would), and defending a government that is on God's side when we have one, but almost nothing else.
