Roy Masters’ simple message is much like that of The Great Awakening evangelical movement of the mid-eighteenth century whose followers included George Washington. The Great Awakening, as history has so beautifully named it, gave men and women a sense that they had a direct personal relationship with God that transcended the one they had with the established church. It also promoted the natural rights of the individual, given directly by God. A clergyman or church that tried to establish itself as a permanent intermediary between an individual and God was viewed as impeding the correct religious experience.

The Foundation of Human Understanding believes that finding God within one’s self not only gives a person religious piety, but enables them to find true happiness and moral discipline and achieve freedom under God. For over 50 years, Roy Masters has taught a simple prayer exercise that brings each person to the stillness of their mind where he believes God exists. It has helped millions of troubled people transform spiritual and emotional suffering into a renewed understanding of how simple faith can bring forth the true, authentic self.

This is New Age heresy, fabian, that one can find God in oneself.

May I add you to my ping list so that you may compare his teachings with those of the God of the bible?
