She is an important figure without doubt, as Abraham and Moses are. I’m not sure why anyone would pray to her.
She was a human, not a deity, not even an angel. Praying to her would have no more effect than praying to Moses. They were human, and have passed into the blessed eternity. They’re beyond us now.
Hail Mary, full of grace,the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen
