Mrs. Don-o, I have to agree with FMA here to a large degree. This is not a physical affliction which can be treated medically without it being a moral issue.

One area that I would disagree with, is that it is a mental illness condition. It could be. Likely the person suffered much abuse of some kind in the past.

But that would then lend itself to the possibility that there is a spiritual aspect involved. I could see demonic oppression playing into it.

Mutilating yourself is not the answer.

Hello all of you, It's 5:45 a.m. I've got to get this off quick, I've got an appt. this morning.

I want to reiterate AGAIN (re-reiterate!) that I'm against transgenderizing or gender-blenderizing surgery. The reason I asked the question as I did, is I was looking to see how people would respond with a specifically Scriptural argument. And I thank you all for your good Biblical answers.

I would absolutely agree that it is wrong to use drugs or surgery to maim one's inbuilt healthy sexual characteristics. Yet --- think this through with me --- almost ALL Christian religious groups are OK with contraception and sterilization, which, specifically and intentionally, maim or directly deliberately disable inbuilt healthy sexual characteristics. One never hears the counter-argument that, Biblically, God gave these procreative, generative powers, and it's wrong to try to "re-engineer" yourself with drugs, devices, and surgery.

Yet that's what the transgender person is doing: reshaping the function of sexual organs (and additionally altering their gender identity.)

So, would all of you agree that contraception sterilization --- which alter one's sexuality via surgery and/or hormones --- is against God's law, just like transsexual surgery is? And on Biblical grounds? Thank you for your patience and thought. This really is valuable to me. See you later in the morning.
