There's some of that in our Methodist hymnal. For example, "God of Our Fathers" is now "God of the Ages."
A number of great hymns, such as "From Greenland's Icy Mountains," which calls for bringing the Gospel to heathen cultures, "Hold the Fort," inspired by the Battle of Allatoona in 1864, or even "Eternal Father, Strong to Save," the Navy hymn, are now considered politically incorrect and have vanished from many contemporary hymnals.
