oh good grief....hopr they weren't Lutherans or Methodists or Baptists.... Sure they were. The Baptists were there first.
John the Baptist was the first one, so it proves that Baptists are the oldest denomination in the world. It was there before the Catholic church, which doesn't even get mentioned by name in the Bible......

It was there before the Catholic church, which doesn't even get mentioned by name in the Bible John was a baptizer...never himself established a religion known as Baptist....the Baptist denomination sprang up in Amsterdam in 1609 founded by John Smythe.
