Do I go to mass tomorrow, and listen to a homily advocating amnesty for illegal immigrants? (Vanity)

Posted on 09/07/2013 3:59:35 PM PDT by steelhead_trout

Have head that tomorrow, September 8, parish priests, on order from their dioceses, will give homilies that unabashadly advocate amnesty for illegal aliens, that is, support the Obama administration's policy in this area. Last week's homily was, in my church, a taste of this; the priest worked (snuck?) the subject of immigration and immigrants into the homily. Since I've returned to the faith from a somewhat lapsed status over 4 years ago, I've endeavored not to miss any days of obligation. But I remember way back in 1982 when a priest gave an over-the-top homily supporting the nuclear "freeze" movement. I do not want to ever sit through something like that again. If I do, I will simply get up and walk out of church.

Actually I have seen water put in with the wine. The priest will have a clear Crystal pitcher of water. Just to be true of what I have seen. I know it is deluted wine at times. I hope this helps. This might be for kids who go up.

Putting water into the wine is not what was said. It was that water was changed into wine.

That’s a pretty basic error in Catholic teaching.

My priest didn’t say a word about it either.

You quite obviously don’t understand the ministerial Priesthood of the ordained.

Anyone can ask God, through his Son, for a Blessing, and through Faith, receive it.

This is far better than receiving a “blessing” from a priest who obviously does not understand his own ordination.

But, I’m not trying to argue. I’m saying Gods Blessings are available to all believers.

Putting water in the wine is symbolic:

John 19:34
Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.

The phrase was *turning water into wine*.

Oh, sorry. I thought you were speaking of the Communion Chalice.
