I think we all realize that. It’s that he felt there was that great a problem that had to be addressed. In a truly Spirit filled assembly of believers I can’t imagine that thought ever crossing the mind of either the leadership or the lay. Jesus is not just the “center point” of our salvation. He is our only salvation and our only hope.
I’m cynical enough to say “some of us realize that.” And the bottom line that I believe has been lost in this chain is the Pope’s call to ‘OVERCOME TEMPTATION.” There may be others who’ve posted here that don’t see “temptation” as an issue, but I face it all of the time.
