No, it's a true promise. "It is the Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom", but you have to accept the gifts. Prosperity is God-ordained. It is we who get in the way. We need to get out of God's way.
I don't recall Jesus being rich, or any of the Apostles. Were they all getting in God's way?
I also remember Jesus saying, "pick up your cross and follow me."
