Russia joins the European and world traditions according to which hotel guests have the opportunity to read the Bible in their rooms, reports the Christian Telegraph invictory.com in reference to ITAR-TASS.
On August 9th, the first 6,000 copies of the New Testament and Psalms will be transferred to one of the largest hotels in Moscow Izmailovo, reports ITAR-TASS citing the New Department of the Russian Orthodox Church.
This charity event is supported by the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management of the Moscow Government and the Commission with the Diocesan Missionary Council of the capital.

cool! Meanwhile, ours are being removed unless the ‘God Delusion’ and the Quran are places beside it.
Does it seem at some level an inversion is occurring?
Molodyets Rossiya!
When they start drinking Jack Daniels instead of Stolichnaya.........
Banning homosexuality, bibles in hotel rooms? America take note!
They would if they could.
White oak barrels lightly charred are tough to come by in the Steppes.
At some point one has to concede that this is a real, sincere movement over there.
I would like to email someone over there (Putin LOL) and congratulate/encourage them but you know the NSA/Obama/IRS would be all over it.
Yes! Been thinking the same thing for a few months. Russia is moving to the right of socialism and Obama and the left are running full steam ahead to communism.
Every hotel I have stayed in in he USA in the last two years has had a Gideon bible. When I stay near oak Ridge TN, the chambermaid has left the bible open, sometimes with a pointer to a particular paragraph.
And when I stay at a Marriott I get a Bible, Book of Mormon, and a bio of the hotel chain’s founder.
So are the Russian Bibles in Russian?
Here we thought we would fight the Godless russian bear in the endtimes, but now it seems the Russian Orthodox Church which hanged on through trials and tribulation may be the last bastion of Western Christendom....
Food for thought, at the very least.
Worth watching, IMHO.
Bizzaro world!!
These are such strange times.
Russia is becoming more like the US used to be
The US is becoming more like Russia used to be.
You post on Free Republic. Assume EVERY one of your communications, including “private” ones where a mobile phone is in the room, is being monitored by obama’s NSA.
PS NSA puke reading this, maybe read the Constitution while you are following our booorrriiiinnnggggg lives? Or is that not allowed?
PPS I wonder why Free Republic is having such issues lately...
Yes. We are living in a live version of The Twilight Zone. Any minute I expect to hear Rod Serling’s voice...
The speed with which this has all happened caught me off guard.
I was “saved” in 1978. We thought the world would soon end, what with the Universal Price Code Beastmark and the European Union.
Reagan came along and I enjoyed a period of health and relative prosperity, got married soon thereafter, raised children and was lulled asleep for a few decades.
Here we are, suddenly.
Next step: Obama and Putin will trade constitutions. Putin will take the U.S. Constitution. Obama will accept the old Soviet Constitution for his end of the deal.
I agree, and I also have a sick feeling, that it might take as long to dump it here, as it took to dump it in the Soviet Union. I hope it does not take that long, but I am not confident.
