Wife just got a phone call with horrible news from niece in Bombay.
Ceiling collapsed in multi-story apartment building in the middle of the night. Very poor area.
Wife's older sister currently is semi-conscious and bleeding. There seems to be no emergency service who will pick her up and family has no vehicle. The next few hours would seem to be critical.
The sister, Margaret, was practically a saint in helping raise my wife as a child. A wonderful person.
Prayers badly needed. Thank you.
I will read but probably not reply tonight. Thank you.
Thank you very much. I forwarded some of these very nice prayers to the niece, although see might not see them for days.
Thank you for the opportunity. All 7 of us will pray for you tonight and tomorrow. If you need more than prayers let us know. We don’t have much but will do what we can!
Blessings be upon you and your family!
Praying for Margaret’s rescue and recovery. May God bless her and keep her close through this crisis.
Thanks, they found a ride (hasn’t arrived yet, but now we have to hope the hospital admits her for treatment).
good.
Prayers on the way..
God Bless you and your family.
Praying for Margaret and you guys as well...
My wife says it is like a three hour drive to the hospital because of traffic and they have no money with them (cash = service). We are hoping a local doctor can see them first and maybe, somehow expedite things.
Praying.
Praying too!
I ask Our lady to cover you and your family in Our Lady’s mantel now.
Prayers going up for you and yours, God Bless and keep you always
Prayers sent for Margaret’s healing.
Prayers for Margaret’s every need be met. Lord, I ask for a miracle in her treatment...that the doctors have wisdom about her injuries and the question of money is removed from this care. I thank you Lord for bringing your peace on this family and that every need is met. In Jesus mighty and Holy Name, Amen
Steve,
I am thinking of you and your family and praying all ends well.
Thank you.
I am feeling guilty (and should be) because although I haven’t been able to work since 1999, I could have somehow scraped the money together to send my wife to see her sister. There were other reasons she couldn’t go as well, like the two small grandchildren we “inherited” about that time, but I still should have sent her. My wife last saw her sister in person in about 1996.
Where in Bombay are they? If all else fails, they can try to get an autorickshaw - they can move through traffic faster than a car. Prayers being sent! Bombay traffic is ridiculous. My in-laws live in Powaii, which is technically the suburbs, and even there it is mind-blowing.
The apartment is on Mira Road - Thane. We hope she is being driven to a doctor now. Here you would never drive a head injury patient like that but it seems to be the only option at the moment along with the autorickshaw, which probably would have been the next choice. I have not been to India myself but my wife tells me all about it.
I can find the Mira Road area on GoogleEarth and even the stupid apartment building. It sounds like a partial collapse occurred a few days ago, but of course nothing was done and the families had no where else to go. So this morning at 4 AM the next part collapsed. Now it sounds like Margaret was hit on the head by a piece of concrete.
I can see Powaii as well — maybe 25 miles away? Stupid Google Earth measurement function is not working.
The irony is they thought it was a real upgrade to move from the slum near the airport to Mira Road. At least in the slum there was pretty much nothing to fall on you.
