Southern Baptist churches don't have a have s standing crucifix. I have never seen or even heard of a crucifix in a Southern Baptist church. I think most of us Baptist look on the crucifix as an idol.

The way our Protestant denomination puts it, we display an empty cross instead of a crucifix because “He is Risen”.

it isn't....it is a visual reminder of what Christ has done for you and on your behalf....the picture that you have of your mom isn't an idol either....it is a reminder of what she looked like and a reminder of who she was....that's all...
