CENTER, MO. -- Rescue workers want to thank a higher power for coming to the rescue early Sunday morning.

Emergency crews spent an hour and a half trying to extricate a 19-year-old Quincy woman trapped in her in crushed car on Missouri 19 near Center, Mo.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said Aaron Smith, 26, crossed the center line and struck Katie Lentz head-on.

Now, friends, family and those who rescued Lentz would love to find and thank a mysterious priest who they say helped make the rescue possible.

New London Fire Chief Raymond Reed said rescue crews spent the first 45 minutes after the accident trying to get Lentz out of a car to no avail Sunday morning shortly after 9 a.m. The metal on an older model Mercedes dulled the department's equipment.

"It was a very well-built car, and when you compact materials like that one, they become even stronger because you're cutting through multiple things instead of one layer," Reed said.

Reed says Lentz was pinned in between the steering wheel and the seat. After 45 minutes passed, medical workers told rescue crews that Katie was failing and fast. That's when Reed decided to move the car, which was standing on its side, back on all four wheels.

About an hour into the rescue, Katie asked rescue workers to pray out loud with her. That's when a priest appeared out of no where.

Great Stories!. Very encouraging.... Love it. Praise Jesus! My Own Brother had Brain tumors. He was at Duke Medical. He was so exhausted and frustrated by the “chemo’ he fell off the table. He was alone he could not carry himself. He stayed there awhile just hurt for awhile. He finally cried out. A man just came in scooped him up like nothing. The gentleman put him on the table. He stayed and prayed with him. Then my brother had a great spiritual peace. The gentleman told him his name. Later when his wife found out she wanted to Thank the man. He was in the hospital outfit. Nobody but nobody knew him from records or personal encounters. God comforts in our suffering. Praise Jesus! AMEN.

Yes, it is a tradition to have the holy oils blessed at a special mass for the priests during Holy Week and often presented at the parishes either at the Holy Thursday mass or on Holy Saturday at the special vigil service/mass for Easter.

Praying for your husband Don. May the Lord wrap him in his comforting arms, and you as well.

“...priest to prevent the DWI...”

Every man is possessed of free will and an individual conscience. The mystery of iniquity is such that God allows “evil” so man can have choice. Ultimately man is the the one who brought the evil into this fallen world (Eve),through the choice of disobeying God. Everyone is responsible for their own actions and everyone is free to choose evil.

The original state of this world as created by God was a state of perfect justice and evil and imperfections did not exist in the perfection of created order. Free will damaged the state of perfect justice, and satan now has an influence on this world.

Otherwise we would have been ants or robots, without the ability to reason. Our ability to choose and reason is what makes us “in God’s image”.

Why would this be surprising to anyone, it's a scripturally valid thing to do? I was attending a non-denominational church when I first started suffering severe back problems. My pastor and assistant pastor came to my home and prayed over me anointing me with oil - just like the Bible says to. It isn't a "Catholic-only" kind of thing.

I'm gonna have to agree with you there. We can look at the real miracles that are recorded in Scripture to know what qualifies as one. Some folks are a little too quick to call things miracles and it DOES cheapen the word.

How about a woman after giving money while I was working I get a beep on my work scanner then look up and they disappear. It was a nanosecond. I told them I give in the name of Jesus. I gave her 5 dollars. Then later when I scratch my lotto ticket I win 5 dollars. Give and it shall be given indeed. lol
