Yes, of course, as long as he's praising him for doing the right thing, for manifesting compassion --- which, as we know, is manifesting Christ, the Source of all compassion. See my other comment, above, about atheists and grace.

Agreed. That is why I did not post this article and ping the list. The Catholic Church does not need to hear its pope praised by Elton John, whose lifestyle is diametrically opposed to what the church teaches.
