IN one sense he is right — we have become much to accepting of divorce.

We are much too accepting of divorce, but you won't see many churches in the US willing to kick out divorced members.

I’m not sure we should kick out divorced members. You can’t “undo” most divorces. You’d like a repentant spirit. And maybe we shouldn’t put divorced people in leadership, if the divorce was under their control.

I wouldn’t kick out homosexual members either, so long as they were not practicing homosexuality. You can’t help being a sinner, you can only repent and seek strength to overcome.

Not "kicked out," but in the RC church, remarried couples who had a previous valid marriage, are not allowed to receive the Sacraments -- Communion, or any other --- until their original spouse dies or the re-married couple separate.

It's hard, but there it is.

I had three people in my RCIA class in one year alone, who are excluded from the Sacraments.
