Just saw this...may I add the time I just already did?
2 hours
Thank you!
“Nothing wrong with prayer, for sure, but I believe our country is experiencing Gods wrath at this very moment (and we deserve it). Not sure Hes going to change His mind.”
I think you are correct that we are experiencing God’s wrath, and yes, we do deserve it, however, over and over in the Bible we are shown that God only wants us to love Him and to repent of our wrong headedness and evil actions, and when repentance and prayer and fasting are performed by the Righteous, He DOES listen, and DOES stay His hand.
My favorite example of this is the Jonah story. God wanted him to preach to Ninevah so that the people of Ninevah would repent. Jonah resisted doing this, and therefore it was during his dodging of God’s will that he had his misadventure with the big fish. Once Jonah got into alignment with the program, he preached and the people of Ninevah did repent, and God stayed His hand.
I strongly and truly believe that prayers of the sincere believers do have an effect on the outcome of the unfolding of events. I also believe that while there may be certain things that we may not affect, nevertheless, there can be a certain level of mitigation achieved, and those who are doing the praying may also perhaps receive a blessing that might not have been forthcoming without the prayers.
Thank you all
I’m a little late to this ping but it’s only 10:30 here. I’ll be praying in about 15 minutes. Count me in for 10:45-11:00. I’d go longer but I’m about to fall asleep! :0)
Thank you
Almighty God,
We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field.
And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
