In fairness though, she is Jesus' mother (the one who brought forth Jesus from her womb), and since Jesus is God the Son, that does technically make her the mother of God (the Son). Are you Catholic?
Seriously ... you just identified precisely why we use the term "Mother of God". It is precisely and explicitly to affirm that Jesus Christ is GOD ... a proposition denied by certain folks, back when the term came into use.
