I get why the Church is opposed to this practice and I agree.

But I also think they are missing a huge opportunity to oppose abortion on the grounds that surrogacy proves ‘viability’ to be a red herring in the abortion debate.

If an embryo can be implanted into a womb and gestate fully until live birth, surely ‘viability’ at 24 weeks is an outdated ‘bright line’ concept vise a vise abortion.

If we could work out the tech needed to gestate a baby in an artificial womb at ANY STAGE OF PRENATAL DEVELOPMENT, we could use technology to permanetly eliminate abortion!!!
