You’re right. Pederasty is the more accurate word. However, I still don’t think we know enough to say that a “great many” homosexual men are pederasts. What is a “great many”? Are there reliable statistics to even prove this? That statement just sounds like saying “a great many” heterosexual men have sexual relationships with adolescent girls. Would we say that?
A lot of gay men's "Coming Out" stories --- this is a substantial autobiographical genre --- are congruent with the stories of the gay men I personally know best: they were molested, seduced or raped by older men.
So it seems that either "a great many" gay men will hit on an adolescent when they have the opportunity, OR there are just a mere handful of pederasts out there, who are rather overworked: I mean they must have each violated dozens or scores of boys.
