No, it’s not - really. Even if we don’t understand or agree with what the Church teaches - we have to submit to what the Church says. There was an excellent article on this awhile back. Being Catholic is not just about being Catholic, it’s about submission to Christ and His Church.

Yes. Paul, throughout Acts and his Epistles makes that very very clear.
