Kampala - A popular Ugandan priest has been ostracized from the Catholic Church after exposing what he calls an 'open secret'-- the rampant sexual abuse of children by clergy members.
Earlier this year, Ghanian cardinal and papal candidate Peter Turkson raised eyebrows when he told CNN that the international clergy sex abuse scandal couldn't happen in Africa because "African traditional systems kind of protect... its population against this tendency" and "in Africa homosexuality... [is] not countenanced in our society."
But one African priest strongly disagrees. Anthony Musaala, a gospel music star known as the "Dancing Priest," has been publicizing sex abuse among clergy in his native Uganda. In doing so, he's forcing the country's Catholic Church to confront an ugly epidemic that it says doesn't exist.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Musaala is paying a heavy price for his crusade against abusive clergy. In March, he was suspended indefinitely by Cyprian Lwanga, the Archbishop of Kampala, to whom he'd written about priests who not only sexually abused children but who also fathered children and kept secret wives. Musaala also called for a debate on whether priests should be allowed to marry.

I would argue that the line is not ridiculous so much as it is pitiful. Those whose minds are poisoned by hatred cannot see truth, justice, reason or charity. They cannot see themselves how they really are. They are the ones most in need of our love and understanding.
Peace be with you
The allegations didn't stop there. He claimed more than a few Ugandan priests were practicing heterosexual relationships. Some, arguably, possibly abusive. Others, it appears might be more along the lines of consensual, there being no coercion mentioned.
Thank you. Yes, the distinction you make is significant.
Pathetic indeed but not surprising or out of character. One only needs to look at the comments from Catholics here on FR. Invariably the response is that there are others who do the same thing or in some other way try to deflect. Just looking at the comments on this thread it becomes obvious that protecting the organization comes well ahead of condemning the practices of leadership. Pathetic indeed but incredibly sad at the same time. The number of people deceived by RCC is horrendous saddens the heart of any true Christian.
A thousand plus years of Roman church history demonstrate otherwise.
Well that was quite a read.I’m glad I already knew all that and it will be helpfull when everyone else catches up.
The facts speak for themselves. There is no place on earth for a child of either sex or any age than in the presence of a priest. By your logic, the fact that the highest incidence of abuse occurs in the home means even you can't be trusted either with children either. A half a million years of human history demonstrate that.
Seems that the only ones who can see it are those not blinded by the indoctrination of the Catholic church.
Some of the most vile, reprehensible, and destructive sin that exists and the practitioners of it are given a pass and those who speak against it are the bad guys.
Image is everything, isn't it?
Matthew 23:25-28 25 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.
27 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and all uncleanness. 28 So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
So aptly applied to Catholic clergy for the sin against their laity.
Luke 6:43-45 43 For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, 44 for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. 45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
Wonderful fruit those priests are producing. /s
No child does have any business being in the presence of a priest.
With the Catholic church track record, any parent who allows that is a fool.
Then you should have no problem providing corroborating statistics from something other than the recesses of someones dirty mind or sectarian hatred.
Now THAT is sick and hateful. Demons hate priests too.
I read those items, posted in 15-16, before posting the thread, reading both those and other commentary, enough to see through some of the priest's own possible game-playing, and see through the bishop's own writing, too, for I'm capable of holding various thoughts or concepts in mind simultaneously, even though writing it all completely down, fully organized and also footnoted to source, is more chore than I'm typically willing to engage in here.
Yes, I am truly liberated, Thanks. In fact...the spirit of the Lord spoke to me years ago now, the precise words "you are free". Two mid-morning days in row, the same exact words, completely out-of-the-blue so to speak. Not being able to swear by any greater than Himself, he extended the grace towards me to repeat the words, with them coming very quietly both times, as I trod the very same boards.
It is an amazing thing for a man to hear such as that, from the Creator of the universe.
yes...I have to remind myself occasionally.
Your thread can be summed up in one word; “Sittlichkeitsprozesse”
Proverbs 26:4-5
"...your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you." (John 16:22)
You can be sure that there is a frantic internet dumpster dive taking place right now to find anything from any source that "proves" that priests are evil.
Peace be with you
The term monastery processes is a part of the Nazi persecution practices in the German Reich summarized. This refers to the persecution of Catholic priests , monks , laymen and members of the Bund Youth on charges of homosexuality .
You were aware that the priest bringing the allegations is himself accused of being homosexual, even as he also claims to himself been a victim when he was but 16 years old, not of a "homosexual" priest, but of an abusive, predatory one?
If he was "gay" after that, could not that arguably have been what made him that way?
