My wife was a RC and became a Born Again Christian, my Father-in-Law was also Born Again before his death. I suspect there are a fair number of RC's that don't have a strong theological foundation but have faith in Jesus Christ. My experience has been that they are caught up in the misguided notions that their church has a say in their salvation and that their works are critical. For my wife and FIL it was just a question of teaching them The Gospel and letting them figure out it's impact.
