I disagree. This is precisely the context that Jesus talked about when he said turn the other cheek. Persecution due to faith was that context and these protesters were persecuting the Bishop due to his faith. He turned the other cheek and that was the Christ-like response.The Archbishop did the correct thing by turning the other cheek, but the civil authorities could have taken action. Either locking them up or "fire hosing" their arses.
