The universe does not necessarily behave in accordance with the human concept of cause and effect.

Especially since the human concept of cause and effect is just that--a concept, useful for everyday human thinking, but a concept that may have no basis in reality.

exactly...there has to be an Uncaused-cause. We know him as God the creator. “I AM”

But this scientific mind (Hawking) cannot move into the metaphysical. So should we expect anything other than a search for “NO GOD”?
