Don’t get me wrong. I’m not an Eastern Orthodox or a Coptic. I merely quote the early Fathers since they have so many different opinions than the Catholic Church of today, even on the primacy of Rome.
According to the Romans, they have an unbroken line of tradition and doctrine going back to the beginning. The church Fathers have so many differing opinions that it is impossible to claim there was any monolithic teaching of Romanism. In fact, Augustine was more Lutheran than Roman.
