Fascinating! Notice especially the dramatic difference in chasuble of Msgr. Guido Marini, the Master of Papal Ceremonies.

Good grief. Are we now going to emphasize outward appearances?
What is the dramatic difference between the two popes? Either one serves the same Triune God in the manner he sees most appropriate.
More or less lace on a chasuble not a solemnity make.

As much as I like the traditional style, I don’t necessarily mind Francis’ simplicity either. What I can’t stand is when priests act as showmen, i.e. flashy inappropriate robes

Notice especially the dramatic difference in chasuble of Msgr. Guido Marini, the Master of Papal Ceremonies. A chasuble is worn by the celebrant of Mass. The servers and masters of ceremonies wear a surplice or rochet over their cassock.
