If the sum total of the garbage and bulk body waste that has been saluted by those in the military since the founding of the nation were represented by an equivalent amount of asphalt, we could at least repave all the Interstate Highways east of the Appalachian Mountains with that amount of asphalt.
You salute the uniform, not the man.

Sooooo, now we know that Biden’s Mom was a complete moron as well. I guess the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.

How dare you accuse Joey "Plugs" Biden of Obamanal Fundamental Osculation. Besides, that really is Reggie Love's job description.
Attention MSM reporters and reporterettes.
Put a tail on Reggie. Could be story of the year. Of course, you run the risk of never eating lunch in DC again.

It’s Jesus’ picture on the Pope’s ring. I don’t like the idea of kissing the Pope’s ring. (I don’t like customary kisses, in general. I didn’t grow up in a kissy culture.) But I’d do it, anyway, to show respect for Jesus and for the head of His Church, if that was the customary way to do it.
Now, I could see having a governmental policy of not doing those sorts of gestures to other heads of state. However, Obama kind of lost that point when he bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia.

Well now we know he gets his stupidity from his mom.

I don’t think that it is him who requires the military to salute and he would probably not take notice if the rule is changed by whoever makes such rules or traditions, and generally, a salute is to be returned.

John Kerry claimed his mother (on her deathbed) told him integrity, integrity, integrity. Probably got him lots of votes from the old Irish grannies who fell for the pretense that his ancestors also hailed from the Emerald Isle.Jacques didn't tell the whole story:
He asked his mother on her deathbed, "what quality do I lack the most?"

When JFK met the pope he said he wouldn’t be kissing the papal ring as it was a meeting between heads of state and such gesture was a no no.

For those of us who read a lot of FR, the cussing is becoming overwhelming, seeing and mentally saying hundreds of cuss words a day on freerepublic is changing us and our vocabulary, and it sounds simple minded.

Remember in the movie “Patton” when the general strode up the steps at the cathedral in Palermo, knelt, and kissed the cardinal archbishop’s ring? I can understand a non catholic’s reluctance to kiss anyone’s ring, but a catholic, the kissing of the ring like that is signal honor.
